The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District's Wellness and Health Promotion Division is a grantee of the Illinois Department of Human Services' Personal Responsibility Education Program or PREP. Through the PREP grant, CUPHD's health educators teach the Making Proud Choices! curriculum in area middle schools and high schools. Typically, this consists of a health educator having a guest speaking role during students' regularly scheduled health class. Making Proud Choices! is an 8 hour, age-appropriate, evidence-based sexual health curriculum for 12-18 year-olds. At the completion of the MPC curriculum, youth will have:

In addition to the PREP grant, CUPHD has additional awards and funding for sex education, and can often do shorter programming by request.
Since the beginning of the sexual health education program at CUPHD, our health educators have implemented comprehensive sex education lessons in the following schools and organizations:
CUPHD health educators are grateful to deliver CUPHD's Comprehensive Sex Education Programming to over 1,000 Champaign County youth each year, and we look forward to continued expansion of sexual health education and services.
CUPHD is also the chair of the Coalition for Comprehensive Sex Education (CCSE). CCSE is a group of health professionals, youth-serving organizations, parents, teachers, and students that meets quarterly to address the sexual health needs of the community, particularly among youth.
