All body art establishments providing body art services such as tattooing, piercing, microblading, branding or scarification have the potential for spreading blood-borne diseases, such as Hepatitis B. Annual inspections are conducted by the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District or the Champaign County Public Health Department to monitor compliance with the Body Art Code and the Tattoo and Body Piercing Establishment Registration Act. Inspections cover all aspects of the body art process, from setup to the procedure, and clean-up and sterilization. Proper documentation of clients and training of artists are reviewed.
