CUPHD to Host Bivalent Vaccination Clinics Starting Next Week
CHAMPAIGN, IL - The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) will be hosting COVID-19 bivalent vaccination clinics beginning the week of September 12. Clinics will be held Monday through Thursday with both Pfizer and Moderna vaccine available.
On September 1, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices' (ACIP) recommendations for use of updated COVID-
endorsed the CDC 19 boosters from Pfizer-BioNTech for people ages 12 years and older and from Moderna for people ages 18 years and older. The updated COVID-19 boosters add Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 spike protein components to the current vaccine composition, helping to restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination by targeting variants that are more transmissible and immune-evading.
