Two Public Health Employees Receive State Red Ribbon Award

Health District Infectious Disease Prevention Staff Are Recognized for Their Work on HIV and STD Prevention

Two Champaign-Urbana Public Health District employees received the state Red Ribbon Award this week at the 15th Annual HIV/STD Conference in Springfield, IL. The award, given by the Illinois Department of Public Health HIV/AIDS Section, recognizes "outstanding individuals and groups involved with HIV/STD advocacy, prevention or care services."

Public Health Nurse Sonya Kuykendall, RN, received the Red Ribbon Award for Effective STD Prevention and Intervention for her work combating a syphilis outbreak in Champaign County.

Public Health Prevention Specialist Arlene Valentine received the Red Ribbon Award for Sustained HIV/STD Leadership.
