Project Towards No Tobacco Use (Project TNT) is an evidence-based curriculum offered through ten 40-minute sessions, designed to reduce youth tobacco use. Health educators from C-UPHD offer this program to 4th and 5th grade classrooms in Champaign County. Some topics include consequences of tobacco use, self-esteem, refusal skills and advertising. Throughout the year, we offer a 7-week, 8 session class on smoking cessation. The class helps smokers walk through the quitting process with a team of people going through the same experience. To get on the waiting list or to get more information, contact Talia Oakley,

Illinois Tobacco Quitline Anyone interested in quitting smoking can call the Illinois Tobacco Quitline 7 days a week from 7am-9pm. They will talk you through cravings, walk you through the quitting process, and help you prepare for your new smoke-free life. 1866-QuitYes

Tobacco Vendor Compliance Checks Tobacco vendors in Champaign County are checked for compliance with minimum age laws three times a year.

Sexual Health Education

Coalition for Comprehensive Sex Education is a group of professionals, parents, teachers, and students that meets regularly to address the sexual health educational needs of the community, to join this coalition, contact Jennifer Jackson .

We work with area schools to implement Coordinated School Health efforts (including a Coordinated Approach To Child Health, CATCH) as part of their mandated school wellness policies. We supply all the resources for the effort.
