Champaign-Urbana Public Health District applauds local measures to improve overall community health.

Champaign, IL - The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) Children's Dental Clinic recognized eight community water systems for maintaining state-mandated fluoride levels every month in 2009. State-recommended fluoride levels are 0.9 to 1.2 parts per million, in standard drinking water.

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Takes Part in an Immunization Initiative Program

Champaign, IL - The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) has accepted a one-time grant to assist with costs associated with expanding the availability of specific vaccines to new target populations through the end of 2010.

CUPHD is providing free vaccinations to adolescents, ages 11-18, including Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), Menactra (meningococcal), and Varicella (chickenpox). Varicella (if history of disease is not present) and Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis vaccines are required for school entry and a Tetanus booster is required every 10... more...

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District was not Affected by CDC's Vaccine Recall

Champaign, IL - The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued a health update on January 29, 2010 for certain lots of the H1N1 vaccine. The recall was a non-safety-related voluntary recall of unused doses of Sanofi Pasteur H1N1 vaccine in pre-filled syringes that had potency levels which dropped below the pre-specified limits. The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District to hold Smoking Cessation Classes

CHAMPAIGN, IL- The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is gearing up for its Freedom From Smoking program to kick off 2010 starting on January 5th. The eight-session program is available to anyone 18 years of age and older who lives in Champaign County.

This unique program is designed for those at any stage of the quitting process that need some additional support. The program enables people to gain the tools that they need to
quit smoking, develop an individualized plan to quit, prepare for trigger situations, discuss cessation aids and options, and to celebrate success with others who have kicked the habit.... more...

Nov 30, 2009 Walk-In H1N1 Clinic Scheduled This Weekend
CHAMPAIGN, IL- The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) and Christie Clinic will be administering H1N1 vaccinations Saturday, December 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The walk-in clinic will be held at Christie Clinic at Champaign Windsor. The clinic continues to target priority populations including persons from 6 months to 24 years of age, no restrictions, and 25 to 64 years of age with underlying health conditions.

All persons 24 years of age or younger can receive the initial vaccination or a booster shot, a secondary dose needed for those age nine and under. Parents bringing their children to the clinic for booster shots are asked to bring their vaccination card with them to be updated.... more...

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District and Carle Clinic will be Holding Public H1N1 Clinics November 21st & 22nd

CHAMPAIGN, IL- The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) and Carle Clinic will be administering H1N1 vaccinations Saturday, November 21st and Sunday, November 22nd. The two-day clinic is targeting persons from 6 months to 24 years of age, no restrictions, and 25 to 64 years of age with underlying health conditions.

Individuals who fall into the priority age group of 25 to 64 who have medical conditions that put them at a higher risk for influenza-related complications include those with heart disease, diabetes, asthma or chronic lung diseases, kidney disease, suppressed immune systems, and neurological and neuromuscular disorders.

CUPHD encourages those who will be attending either clinic to print consent forms prior to arrival and to wear short sleeves for a faster process. The consent forms can be found on our ... more...

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District and Carle Clinic will be Holding Public H1N1 Clinics November 21st & 22nd.

CHAMPAIGN, IL - The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) and Carle Clinic will be administering H1N1 vaccinations to high-risk groups November 21 - 22 in Champaign and Urbana.
