Hospitals and Other First Responders to Practice Response to an Infectious Disease Scenario

In an exercise that will last several days, Champaign County health, safety and emergency preparedness personnel will practice their plans for responding to a local outbreak of infectious disease. Local hospitals, the University of Illinois, Parkland College, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, police, fire officials and other first responders are collaborating on the drill, which will culminate early next week with the opening of a medication dispensing site at Parkland College on Tuesday, September 12, and the opening of a hospital surge facility on Wednesday, September 13.
