Dr. Arnold, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health was in Champaign yesterday afternoon to encourage Illinois residents to get their flu shots. Dr. Arnold and Public Health's Julie Pryde stressed the need for everyone to get the seasonal flu shot as well as the H1N1 flu shot when it becomes available. Dr. Arnold also talked about the importance of washing hands, using sanitizer, covering your cough and staying home when you become sick.
Also on hand were women's basketball coach, Jolette Law, U of I director of sports medicine Al Martindale, director of McKinley health center
Dr. Robert Palinkas, State senator Mike Frerichs, state representative Naomi Jakobsson and others.
Dr. Arnold gave flu shots to two men's basketball players, one women's basketball player as well as others.
